Our Mission

Parenting on Mission’s purpose is to engage, encourage and equip current and prospective parents in practicing mission focused parenting.

About Parenting on Mission

Parenting On Mission was founded in August 2020 by Oscar and Suni Combs during the beginning of COVID-19. Oscar and Suni believed that many societal issues, both good and bad are a result of good and bad parenting.

Oscar and Suni had several strategy sessions and landed on the name, Parenting On Mission. As the name indicates, Parents must have a clear mission when it comes to raising their children. There are many cases where parents seem to take parenting too haphazardly and their child(ren) and society often pays the consequences.

Oscar and Suni have had the fortune of raising 3 children ranging from 17-23 together and Oscar’s son (32), from a previous relationship. Oscar and Suni raised their 3 children with sound structure, principles, and values, while Oscar’s older son chose to be raised with his mother, which unfortunately wasn’t in the same structure. Oscar and Suni have experienced their own parenting challenges and have also worked to successfully overcome them.

Over the 20+ years, from interactions and discussions with other parents, discussing their challenges, Oscar and Suni realized that parents often seemed to lack structure and the “know-how”. Often in many cases parents would inquire about what we were doing, as we were not experiencing the major challenges they were. Oscar and Suni of course were more than happy to help and support, but started to realize the major societal gap that exists within parenting and decided to help other parents.

Parenting On Mission, initially started as a Life Group at Champions Forest Baptist Church, from September 2020-July 2021, meeting with parents to discuss Godly parenting each Sunday. During these (10) months, Oscar and Suni heard first hand about the same issues, which many they had already put structure in place to address. They were able to share Godly principles and practical advice to address various parenting challenges.

In January 2023, Oscar and Suni were asked to lead the College Life Group at Champions Forest Baptist Church. Oscar and Suni led the College Life Group for 1 year and during this year, they were able to minister to 50+ college students each Sunday, including their own (2) sons. This was great; because, now they were now interacting with the children of the same parents from the parenting life group. Oscar and Suni now were able to understand the impacts of poor parenting and see great examples of the impacts of great parenting.

Now Parenting On Mission is focused on formulating clear parenting strategies to help parents in their parenting journey to raise our next generation of adults. Parenting can be hard, but its easier when done on mission!
